U.S.T.A. Sues Filmmakers of ‘Venus and Serena’ Documentary

As If the USTA wasn’t unpopular enough, they have filed a lawsuit against the makers of the tennis documentary film with stars Venus and Serena for copyright infrigment. The claim is that they used more than 20 minutes of video from the 2011 United States Open without contract or permission. How good is the film? A.O. Scott, a critic for The New York Times, wrote last month that the documentary is “detailed but also superficial, since Ms. Baird’s and Ms. Major’s intentions and methods are more promotional than journalistic.”
