Sheer Dominance

French Open WTA Winner

Serena Williams once again shows why she is ranked the #1 player in the world. She improved her head to head record over Maria Sharapova to 14-2 while capturing the 16th major title of her career at Roland Garros with a straight set victory today.

Last year, Williams lost in the first round to the Frenchwoman Virginie Razzano. Shortly after that loss, Williams hooked up with coach (and possible love interest?) Patrick Mouratoglou and has been nearly unstoppable with a renewed focus and desire to win. Since the 2012 French Open loss, Williams has been 74-3 overall and is currently on a 30 match win streak.

Williams won her first title at Roland Garros 11 years ago, the longest gap of any woman.
